Yes, little by little I have been learning to use my new Ipod Touch. It is one amazing little gadget, but then considering the pricey price, it should be. Last night I ordered a case for it, as its shiny metal body is so slippery that I have a fear of dropping it … again … onto the stone floor where my desk is.
I’ve got all my music on it and that was fairly simple to do. Amazingly, it automatically converted my CD files and Windows Media Player files into something that can be used on the Ipod. There were a few disappointments with some of the tunes that I had purchased at the WalMart site in a non-MP3 format. Those files apparently had some proprietary code embedded so that for whatever reason their creator deemed, I cannot listen to them on my Ipod, even though I paid Walmart for the right to download them. So I learned my lesson there. The kind of music I like is difficult to find on the Internet and I have not yet tried the I-Tunes store, but I don’t expect to find much that I will like there either.
The Ipod found all 4000+ images in my pictures folder and downloaded them and now I can show them around on my big three inch screen that I can carry in my purse. Wanna see pictures of my grandchildren? If not, you better not ask, as I will have them coming out the ya-zoo. I can create play-lists and slide-shows like you cannot believe and the Ipod came with a little plastic holder that keeps it standing when showing slide-shows or videos. How long I will be able to keep possession of that tiny plastic holder remains in doubt. I do hope that replacements can be purchased, but I have not yet found them.
I haven’t yet figured out how to upload my own videos to the Ipod. Apparently all of those that I created with my camera are in the wrong format, and now I am trying to figure out how to convert them to MPEG4 files for the Ipod. Perhaps downloading them from YouTube might work. That will be my next step.
I discovered the most amazing thing of all last night when I was attempting to get an audio book onto my Ipod. I will write about that on another day.
