When I arose to greet this last morning of the lucky 2007th year, I was charmed by a visitor come to feed just outside of my kitchen window. It was a brilliantly feathered flicker that delighted me with my first glimpse of my last day of the year. He was gone in an instant, and just [...]

Goodbye Picasa Web Albums

I have been troubleshooting my problems with Picasa Web Albums since mid November, with nary one iota of help from Google. Google automatically charged my credit card in mid-November for another year of storage and at the same time re-sized smaller all of my thousands of photographs that I had uploaded to my paid account the [...]

On my 66th celebration of Christmas I am reminded of the storybook I owned so long ago on the shore of Maryland in the early 1940s. The memories came flooding back when I received one of those Internet emails that makes the rounds during these days of mass email messages.
As a little girl I loved [...]
The Season of Juncos

Those little black and white juncos know well their primordial calendar. It has been embedded in their tiny beings long before any human tread upon this North American sod. Yesterday, one day before the beginning of winter, I spotted my first junco visitor at my garden. Although it is my cold wintertime garden, to the junco it [...]

As I have previously written, HERE, I have been mystified as to why my Picasa Web Albums has stopped working for me. I can no longer upload nor download my full size images. I finally found a way of contacting the Google people at Picasa Web Albums and at that point I was able to see a [...]

In October my husband and I had a most delightful and luxurious trip to Chicago. I had not been there since I was a college kid changing trains for the West in the autumn of 1960. During our stay this year we were given lovely introductions to both the Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. [...]
Picasa Web Albums - Changed

I have been a big fan of Google’s Picasa2 photo editing software and Picasa Web Albums, but something has been wrong for sometime now and I cannot understand what. Something is no longer working the way it used to and whether it is the software or the photo albums I cannot say. Unfortunately, there is [...]
In Search of the Tipsy Hedgehog

When I asked the docent what was that creature, she responded “haven’t you ever seen a Hedgehog Cake?” No, I’ve never seen one nor ever even heard of one. I am very accustomed to seeing Martha Washington’s great cake on that table. That is her recipe that begins with “take 40 eggs … and 4 pounds of butter.” As photography of the dining room was not permitted, I have only my “vanishing memories” to remind me of what I saw that day

How to Goofyfy a Grandchild in One Easy Step: Go to www.picnik.com . Yes, it’s that easy. It’s a Picnik, with a “k.”
After making my “Merry Christmas Card” at Flickr, I did some further investigation and discovered that one can utilize the Picnik application entirely free at their own web site: http://www.picnik.com/. There is no need [...]

I created this card with Flickr’s new “Edit Photo” feature. It is great and I am a living testament to it being “Granny-proof.” I have not been using the Flickr site for a long time, as I have been uploading my photographs to Picasa Web Albums. I just returned at Thanksgiving time, and today there [...]
