This one is my granddaughter.
Little Orphant Annie’s come to our house to stay,
An’ wash the cups and saucers up, an’ brush the crumbs away,
An’ shoo the chickens off the porch, an’ dust the hearth, an’ sweep,
An’ make the fire, an’ bake the bread, an’ earn her board-an’-keep;
An’ all us other children, when the supper things [...]

After a day and a half of waiting for our missing luggage to arrive, Cliff motored out to the airport this morning to personally track them down. He was successful. They were in a locked room at United Airlines. Apparently neither United nor Northwest felt a responsibility to deliver them to us. So they sat [...]

Northwest Airlines - Where is my Luggage? I have been waiting since 6:30 pm last night and still no word. When I left the Northwest Airlines baggage claim office at Dulles Airport, I was assured by Derrick that our “misplaced” bags were coming in on the next United flight from Detroit, just before 9 pm. Derrick said that [...]

We were privileged to be invited to Ocean Tomo’s Gala Dinner held at the beautiful Field Museum in Chicago. It was a grand event to dine amidst elephants, dinosaur skeletons and lovely orchids.

On our first morning in Chicago we explored a bit before lunch by hopping aboard the El at the Adams Street Station near our hotel. These pictures begin at the Palmer House Hilton and end there, and the images in between were made along the route or through the window whilst aboard Chicago’s elevated train known as “The El.” [...]

Perhaps I merit an “A” for effort. One of my granddaughter’s school sent me an email to buy some gifty things at a commercial website. I tried, but somehow while I was attempting to verify the security of the site before entering my credit card information, my entire order got swallowed into the deep hole of cyberspace before I [...]

I mentioned how delighted I am to be able to use my new iPod to listen to audio books. Of course, it has been quite a learning experience, as not only have I never owned an MP3 Player before this brand new model iPod Touch, but I have never before used a touch screen as a navigation system. Last year when I purchased a new Point and Shoot camera, one of the latest models featured a touch screen, but that seemed so foreign to me that I rejected it for one with traditional buttons and wheels.

I am continuing to learn how to use my new iPod as a reader. I like being able to download audio books of my choosing, however I have discovered that when I click on the link at LibriVox that reads “Subscribe in iTunes,” although it does automatically download the entire book into iTunes on my computer, it [...]

I made my Brer Rabbit Cookies today and once I saw how they had come out all crinkled, I remembered where I had first discovered the recipe for them. It was from my long time Navy-wife friend Elaine Rypka. These were cookies that I first enjoyed at her house and I remember being quite intrigued with the appearance of their sugary crackles. It was Elaine who told me that the recipe was from the Brer Rabbit molasses bottle. That is one of my long ago memories that had almost vanished, but it came back

I was surprised to receive the following email from a correspondent:
Please stop all E-Mail for a time. … I will be on an extended trip. Please, no more E-Mail until at least 31 October. With all of the spam and junk mail my server may get overloaded and I won’t get your message anyway. Thanks for [...]
